CHESTER BOUGHTON HALL CRICKET CLUB

Chester Boughton Hall Cricket Club is based just off Filkins Lane in Boughton, Chester. The Club dates back to 20 May 1873 when the first game was played at Boughton Hall. It was initially formed by Mr John Thompson who converted part of his estate into a cricket field.

Over the years, Chester Boughton Hall has grown significantly, and now sports thriving women's, junior and disability sections offering a competitive yet inclusive environment for all. Several notable players have taken to the field in the Club's colours including West Indies legend Sir Curtley Ambrose and current international superstar Sophie Ecclestone.

As one of the most impressive amateur sports grounds in the region, the Club has been privileged to host a range of local and national finals and representative fixtures. Teams now compete in the Cheshire County League, the 1st XI competing in the ECB Premier League. They were also crowned National T20 champions in 2014.

CHESTER NOMADS AFC

Whilst shouts of "howzat" echo across the fields during the summer, grassroots football keeps the Club busy outside of the cricket season with the winter custodians, Chester Nomads AFC.

Chester Nomads AFC was founded in 1904 by a group of teenagers who organised friendly football games. The Club got its name because it initially had no permanent ground. In 1913 they moved to Boughton Hall, sharing facilities with the cricket club.

The Club has since expanded into one of the largest amateur football setups in the country and now fields numerous male and female, junior and senior teams across various leagues, including the Mid-Cheshire League and the Chester & District League. Teams regularly breed players to move up the football pyramid as well as privileged to welcome several ex-professionals into their ranks over the years - testament to the quality of the club.

The Nomads also ply their trade at their second base "The Garrison" in Handbridge.
